Loved the idea, poor results

I love the idea of an SNS - breastfeed and supplement at the same time while working to increase milk supply. What an amazing promise. Too bad it was a letdown. What got me was all the washing / cleaning. The bottle is hard to clean, the tubes are hard to clean, the whole system was hard to clean. And unfortunately after two weeks, it didn't seem like it helped my milk supply at all.

What I thought was going to be a timesaver ultimately cost be a whole lot more time (than bottle feeding) and I feel like I didn't get any benefit.

Difficult To Use But Increases Milk Supply

Using this SNS is very tricky / sensitive to things like changes to height (if I leaned over, more milk would flow), tubes kinking, air not getting into the container, forming an air lock and so on. It took quite a bit of fiddling around each time for me to get this working right, but I'm so glad that I did. The increase in nipple stimulation combined with an herbal regimen from Lactiful really increase my supply. I was able to stop supplementing, put away the SNS for good and exclusively breastfeed! I highly recommend!

Great for transition from bottle

After my baby got attached to bottle feeding, I'd put her on the breast and she'd fuss and pull away, wanting the bottle. I used the medela supplemental nursing system to trick her into liking the breast again and now she is satisfied without me having to use the SNS. What a great product!

Good, if you are committed

Trying to breastfeed after breast reduction surgery has been very difficult but this SNS has helped provide the extra stimulation that I need to keep my supply up while giving the supplement that my baby needs. It's a pain to get everything hooked up and in the right spot each time, but if you believe in breastfeeding and struggle is more than worth it.
